Few of our local hidden gems
Just a couple of our favourites. See the following link for many more ideas.
MOUNTAINS
Don’t follow the crowd, climb the beautiful Penygader (Cadair Idris)
Gareth, the owner of Ty’n Llidiart, and a Mountain Leader for 20 years cannot recommend Penygader (Cadair Idris) highly enough.
One of the welsh three peaks it offers spectacular views and a variety of walking routes. It even has its own beautiful glacial lake, Llyn Cau, part way up. Unlike its big sister Y Wyddfa (Snowdon) in the north of the Snowdonia National Park, there’s no train up or cafe/loos at the top, so be prepared.
RIVER WALK
Afon Dysinni
Flowing from LLyn Mwyngil (Talyllyn Lake) to the coast the Dysinni Rover offers a beautiful, and relatively flat dog walk from the village of Bryncrug to the shore line at Tywyn.
Join the walk at the bridge in Bryncrug and follow towards the woodland at Ynysmaengwyn. There you will discover fairy glens, historic ruins and shaded woodland walks. Onwards to the shoreline you’ll enjoy beautful views as well as plenty of river wild and shallow spots ideal for a doggy paddle.
